US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has voluntarily ordered a freeze on the transfer of certain weapons to Ukraine, despite the findings of a military analysis.
NBC News reports this.
US arms stockpiles have not reached critical minimum
The US Department of Defense justified the suspension of military aid to Ukraine by concerns about the shortage of certain types of weapons in the country's warehouses.

However, three US officials said an analysis by senior military officials showed there was no threat to US military ammunition stockpiles.
House Armed Services Committee member and Democratic Congressman Adam Smith disagreed with the argument that American stockpiles were in danger of running out.
“We are no worse off in terms of reserves than we were three and a half years into the conflict in Ukraine,” Smith said.
He said his staff had seen specific figures that did not support a deficit that would justify withholding aid to Ukraine.
Sources say this is the third time that Hegseth has taken the initiative to suspend aid supplies to Ukraine.
In two previous cases, in February and May, his decisions were overturned within days.
Recall that earlier this week, the White House confirmed that the Pentagon had suspended the supply of some air defense missiles and precision-guided munitions to Ukraine due to concerns about the decline in the level of weapons stockpiles in the United States.
