< p>In Britain, 29-year-old Ukrainian Andrei Melnik was convicted of rape. According to the case file, on April 2, 2023, in the early morning, a man began stalking an 18-year-old girl who was returning from a party on the bus. The criminal caught up with her, and then pressed her against the fence and raped her. In the end, the young woman managed to push away her attacker and escape.

In court, the Ukrainian admitted his guilt, but the judge did not commute the sentence because he did it at the last moment. Law enforcement officers established that he purposefully followed the woman for almost half a kilometer. After committing the crime, Melnik returned to the same stop where the pursuit began

The judge sentenced the attacker to four years and six months prison.

The judges also said that Melnyk had been living in the UK as a refugee since 2019. He escaped criminal liability for evading conscription. The judge hinted that he could face deportation after serving his sentence.
