An attempt to undermine Kyiv law enforcement officers: what is known

A 37-year-old attacker tried to blow up Kyiv operatives while carrying out a mission.

Now watching

The attack on the life of law enforcement officers occurred when police detained two accomplices after a theft at a pet store.

As it became known, the attackers were able to get into the pet store by opening the door with a crowbar and damaging the CCTV cameras in the room.

Operatives caught up with the thieves when they, having already loaded the car with a stolen laptop, construction tools and goods for animals, were about to flee the scene.

The 36-year-old driver was detained near the car – he, unlike his 37-year-old accomplice, did not offer resistance.

The driver's accomplice, threatening the law enforcement officers with a knife, took a live grenade from his pocket and pulled out the ring.

Criminal investigation operatives intercepted and discharged the ammunition, and the attacker was detained.

After this, law enforcement officers seized stolen property and other material evidence from the car.

The attackers were declared under suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft combined with penetration, and committed under martial law).

The offender, who threatened the police with a grenade, was also informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons and ammunition) and Art. 348 (attack on the life of a law enforcement officer).

The sanction of the last article, in particular, provides for punishment up to life imprisonment.

What is known about the attackers

Accomplices had previously been prosecuted for similar crimes.

One of the intruders is accused of committing residential burglaries.

His case is being heard in court.
