Russian invaders killed former US Army Marine Willy Joseph Kansel, who fought alongside the Ukrainian military. President Joe Biden said that the deceased American had a small child.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki expressed condolences to Kansel's family and said that the US government did not officially confirm him death to warn Americans from traveling to Ukraine.
Biden personally expressed his condolences and concern over the death of American Willy Cancel in combat with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “It's very sad. He left behind a small child,” he told reporters at the White House.

He was killed on April 25 during a battle. The 22-year-old American worked for a private military company. It is known that he was paid while he fought in Ukraine.

Kansel is a former US Marine. When the war broke out in Ukraine, the company was looking for volunteers to fight in Ukraine, and Willy agreed to go.
Because of this tragedy, the White House warns Americans not to travel to Ukraine. “We know that Americans are looking for ways to help, but we encourage people to look for other ways to do it … instead of going to war,” Psaki said.
