There is no way to fight at attrition in Russia. Its “fortress reserve” allows it to conduct active hostilities for months, but not years.

Military expert Oleg Zhdanov told Channel 24 about this. This is how he reacted to the recent statement by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, about the timing of the end of the war.

He obviously knows something

Zhdanov emphasized an interesting detail in the statements of Kirill Budanov. He repeatedly repeats the same forecast regarding the timing of the end of the war. In all likelihood, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate has important information that no one has made public yet.

For the first time, Budanov published his predictions about the end of the war back in March-April.

I remember that this is not the first time Major General Budanov has made such a statement. At first it sounded somewhere at the turn of March – April. Then it was a little strange. As I understand it, judging by the fact that the head of our intelligence service repeats the same terms, he knows something for sure,” Oleg Zhdanov noted.

The military expert admits that Russia does not have the opportunity to actively fight to exhaustion. She is able to conduct active hostilities for several months, but not years. Therefore, it is quite realistic that the active phase of the war may end by the end of the year.

Budanov on the timing of the end of the war

Kirill Budanov emphasizes that as early as August 2022, a certain event will take place that will demonstrate to the whole world a turning point in the war. What exactly will happen – the head of intelligence did not specify. He stated this during an interview with one of the largest British broadcasters “ITV news”.

According to him, Ukraine's goal in this war is complete victory and reaching the 1991 borders – with Crimea and Donbass. No one is considering other completion options.

“Ukraine will return to the 1991 borders and we are not considering any other scenarios. By the end of the year, active hostilities will drop to almost zero. We will resume control over their territories in the foreseeable future,” said the head of the GUR.

Budanov is convinced that the war unleashed by Russia will end in complete disaster for the Kremlin's regime. He also thanked the UK for offering to help train 10,000 troops. This is really important support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
