Emmanuel Macron's statement on the possibility of sending NATO troops to Ukraine has been discussed for several weeks. The White House noted that the French leader has every right to talk about this.

The corresponding statement was made during a briefing on March 18 by the US Presidential Advisor on National Security Jake Sullivan. He noted that French President Emmanuel Macron has every right to say that Western troops will be sent to Ukraine.

The United States “has clearly expressed its position”

Jake Sullivan noted that he cannot speak in place of Emmanuel Macron. At the same time, he added that the French leader has every right to publicly express his position in the future. At the same time, he stressed that the United States “has clearly expressed its position.” And that it lies in the fact that Washington does not intend to send American troops to Ukraine.

“President Biden has essentially reaffirmed that for the American people, and we have not budged from that position and are not deviating from it today,” Sullivan said.

Macron and his statement on Western troops in Ukraine

The day before, Emmanuel Macron, during a meeting of Ukraine’s partner countries in Paris, discussed the possibility of sending his troops to our state. At the same time, he noted that no consensus has yet been reached on this issue.

But we can't rule anything out. “We will do everything we must to prevent Russia from winning this war,” Macron said then.

French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejournet subsequently decided to explain Macron’s words. They say that soldiers from France can be sent to Ukraine, to help with tasks that do not relate to combat operations.

Meanwhile, a number of other NATO member countries noted that they are not considering sending their own troops to Ukraine. Corresponding statements were made in the White House in the USA, Germany, Great Britain, Canada, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland and other countries.

In parallel, France initiates the creation an alliance of states that are open to the fact that Western troops could potentially be introduced into the territory of Ukraine. It is interesting that Paris is only deepening the conflict with Berlin in this matter.

It did not pass, of course, without hysteria from the Kremlin. Dmitry Peskov stated that if NATO troops are sent to Ukraine, “then we will have to talk not about the likelihood, but about the inevitability of a direct clash between Russia and the Alliance.”
