The UN Secretary General arrived in Kyiv on March 8 and met with Volodymyr Zelensky. Already on March 9, Russia launched a massive missile attack, but not only because of the visit of António Guterres.
So in a commentary to Channel 24, political scientist Mykola Davydyuk said. He noted that when the UN Secretary General was in Bucha in April 2022, Russia also carried out missile strikes.
“If Putin is angry with Guterres and fires at the same time, then he definitely won’t come here and demand in Putin’s favor. If these two facts coincide, this is a good sign,” Davydyuk said.
The political scientist noted that if Vladimir Putin is still angry at the UN Secretary General, this means that António Guterres is on our side.
“If Putin had laid out the red carpet and brought Medvedchuk in, and they gave him a 'warm' welcome there, then there would have been a problem and there would have been adversity,” he said.
What is the reason for the visit of Guterres to Kyiv
Davydyuk connects the visit of the UN Secretary General to Kiev with at least three issues – the grain agreement, energy security and the search for peace.
Here is the only question that it should not be from the Chinese side. So that he is not on this “track” with the Saudis, who also “play” with the Russians. And so that he was just looking for a fair world for this planet,” he said.
The political scientist recalled that Ukraine voted in the UN for a resolution that requires the withdrawal of troops from all territories of Ukraine in 1991.
“That's it. Then we can sit down and start talking. Maybe they are interested in catching fish in Azov, maybe they are interested in not touching Lukashenka, maybe they are interested in something else,” he said.
