He created torture chambers in Kherson region: the chief prison guard of the Russian Federation Gostev received a sentence

According to the materials of the Security Service of Ukraine, Arkady Gostev, director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Russian Federation, was sentenced in absentia to 10 years of imprisonment.

The SBU reported this.

Gostev organized torture chambers in Kherson region

According to the investigation, Gostev organized a network of prison camps and torture chambers on the temporarily occupied left bank of the Kherson region. It was on his orders that the captured Ukrainian penitentiary institutions were converted into places of illegal detention of citizens, mainly resistance members.

In these prisons, prisoners were subjected to brutal torture in an attempt to break their resistance to the occupation regime.

The investigation established that the official personally coordinated the development of prison facilities and subsequently included them in the official register of Russian prisons, having made the relevant decisions through the Russian Ministry of Justice.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found Gostev guilty under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – actions aimed at the violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or the seizure of state power.

Since Gostev is located on the territory of the Russian Federation, measures are ongoing to hold him accountable for crimes against Ukraine.

The investigation was conducted by SBU officers in the Kherson region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
