Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the aggressor country has lost a lot of tanks. This is due, among other things, to the fact that the invaders are guided by Soviet standards for the use of weapons.
In general, the tank should perform the functions of fire support, and not drive in columns of 20-30 vehicles against an enemy who has a lot of modern anti-tank weapons, just like the Russians did. This Channel 24 was told by the head of the Come Back Alive Foundation Taras Chmut.
How a tank offensive should look like
Like any weapon or equipment, a tank is not self-sufficient. It is an element of a large system from aviation and missile forces to infantry and support logistics.
The tank is one of the elements and, accordingly, performs the same function in all of this. Its function is a fire reinforcement of mechanized motorized infantry and infantry units, Chmut explained.
According to him, the tank should go out, inflict a fiery defeat and hide behind any objects on the ground in order not to expose itself to anti-tank weapons. At the same time, he should be protected from the infantry of the enemy.
Have the tactics of the Russians changed
Now the course of hostilities has changed – became more positional. In addition, there is no rapid advance by either side, but there are separate tactical offensives.
There are no active offensive operations, as was the case in March-February. Accordingly, the Russians have switched to more defensive tactics where we are advancing, Chmut noted.
“Tanks are more dispersed, buried, camouflaged and in some places withdrawn to the second line in order not to be destroyed by our copters “, – summed up the head of the “Come back alive” fund.
In his opinion, the problem of the Russians in the use of tanks also lies in the quality of the personnel, their training and motivation. Yes, no matter what tank, the main thing is who controls it .

According to him, it does not matter whether the T-72 or T-55, the key is the crew and awareness of strengths and weaknesses, as well as compensation for the latter through tactics of use. Yes, there are many different versions of the T-72, but generally this is a Soviet mass tank that is on par with the vehicles of the West in 1970 .
