Kamala Harris, who will run for the post of US president this fall, has two weeks until August 7 to decide on a candidate who will take the post of vice president if she wins. Journalists note that the politician has a short list of officials she wants to see as her future deputies.

Who will Harris become vice president

Harris is considering three names: Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

• Shapiro is a politician and lawyer. He is a popular governor of the most important state. He is also a skilled orator who knows how to speak in rural areas.
• Walz is a former teacher and a member of the Army National Guard. The media writes that he could ruin Trump's hopes of making Minnesota competitive.
• Kelly is a former NASA astronaut. He is called one of the best candidates for vice president because of his unique experience, position on gun control and protection of immigrants' rights.

California Senator LaFonza Butler, a close ally of Harris, called Kelly smart and said he got into public service “for all the right reasons.” She also said that Harris' choice will come down to what kind of relationship, what kind of community and loyalty she feels with whomever she chooses.”
