Before the full-scale invasion, Vice President Kamala Harris asked Volodymyr Zelensky to create a plan in case he was killed or captured. In particular, to choose a successor.

This is stated in the book “War” by American journalist and editor of The Washington Post Bob Woodward.

“A plan” in case of Zelensky's death

According to the author of the book, in February 2022, Kamala Harris allegedly urged Zelensky to resort to action against the backdrop of a military threat from Russia during the Munich Security Conference. In particular, she demanded that a succession plan be developed that would ensure stability if Zelensky, in her words, “is captured or killed.”

By the way, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, there have been multiple assassination attempts on Zelensky. Thus, in November 2023, the president noted that he and his entourage took the first assassination attempt very seriously. He compared it to Covid – at first, no one knew what to do with it. However, later it turned into familiar intelligence – which, in fact, tells about a group of people who arrived in Ukraine with the aim of killing the Ukrainian leader.

Interestingly, Volodymyr Zelensky could not answer how many assassination attempts there were on him. However, he indicated that he had survived at least five or six plots that had been thwarted by the Ukrainian secret services.

One of Zelensky's aides then said that there had been at least a dozen assassination attempts on him during the first few weeks of the war.

At the start of the invasion, Great Britain and the United States offered to take the president out of the capital. However, he refused, saying that he needed weapons, not a taxi.
