Handcuffed and pushed into a car: the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the case of “serving a summons” by force in Odessa

The State Bureau of Investigation opened criminal proceedings on the fact of abuse of power by military and law enforcement officers, who on November 14 grabbed a man in the middle of the street, handcuffed him and took him to the military registration and enlistment office in Odessa.

“On November 14, a number of Odessa telegram channels distributed a video in which employees of the regional recruitment center, together with law enforcement officers, handcuffed a man and forcibly pushed him into a car for allegedly refusing to receive a summons,” the SBI said in a statement.

It is noted that SBI officers began an investigation into this incident and have already carried out a set of urgent investigative actions, interrogated witnesses, as well as all participants in the incident. Relevant video recordings and administrative materials were also seized.

Criminal proceedings on the fact of exceeding official powers by military officials and law enforcement officers have been opened under Part 5 of Art. 426-1 Criminal Code of Ukraine, Part 2, Art. 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation continues, all the circumstances of the incident are being established.
