The 20-year-old gymnast was the only Ukrainian who started in the all-around qualification. But according to its results, he got into the final from the final 19th place.
For his performances in six disciplines, Kovtun scored 84.998 points.

Gold in the individual all-around event went to the Japanese Daiki Hashimoto (86.132), and the bronze to the American Frederick Richard (84.332).
Kovtun’s silver — is the best result in the history of Ukraine at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the all-around.
In general, this medal became the third for Ukrainian athletes in the all-around at the World Championships. The first person to succeed was Oleg Vernyaev, who won a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2019.
Recall that the Ukrainian men's artistic gymnastics team won a team license for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. It will allow five gymnasts to enter the Olympics.
