Gymnast Kovtun won debut silver for Ukraine in the all-around at the World Championships

< p>Ilya Kovtunwon the first medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. He won silver in the individual all-around.

The 20-year-old gymnast was the only Ukrainian who started in the all-around qualification. But according to its results, he got into the final from the final 19th place.

Kovtun’s silver — is the best result in the history of Ukraine at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the all-around.

In general, this medal became the third for Ukrainian athletes in the all-around at the World Championships. The first person to succeed was Oleg Vernyaev, who won a bronze medal at the World Championships in 2019.

Recall that the Ukrainian men's artistic gymnastics team won a team license for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. It will allow five gymnasts to enter the Olympics.
