Ukrainian intelligence confirmed the defeat and damage of two Tu-22MZ strategic bombers at the Russian Olenya airfield. Only one aircraft of this type was previously reported.
A representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Andrei Yusov, announced this on the air of the national telethon Ediny Noviny.

Damage to the second Tu-22M3 at the Olenya airfield
Already on July 30, Andrey Yusov clarified that as a result of the strike on the airfield, two Tu-22M3 strategic bombers were hit at once.
According to him, the attack took place on July 25, but its results became known later, when they could be further verified. One of the aircraft received holes in the upper part of the fuselage, while the other sustained some damage, but what exactly was not specified.
It will take the Russians, at best, several months to restore two Tu-22M3 strategic bombers, the intelligence officer said. Intelligence was able to confirm the information from various sources.
Recall that earlier Suspilny and UP's sources in the GUR confirmed that during the drone attack on July 27, the following were hit:
- Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region (home of Russian strategic aviation);
- Engels airfield in the Saratov region (home of Russian strategic aviation);
- Dyagilevo airfield in the Ryazan region (home of Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3, Tu-134UBL and Il-78, there is an aircraft repair plant nearby);
- Refinery in Ryazan.
In particular, on July 27, the Main Intelligence Directorate clarified that the TU-22M3 long-range supersonic missile-carrying bomber was hit during an operation near Olenegorsk at the Olenya military airfield at the location of the strategic aviation of the Russian occupiers.
It is noteworthy that the distance from the Ukrainian border to the impact site is about 1.8 thousand km.
