What is known about the new package of sanctions against Russia:

  • The European Union is preparing to approve the 6th package of sanctions against Russia soon. The European Commission has already handed over the document for familiarization with the EU member states.
  • The draft of the European Parliament was presented by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
  • She said that sanctions would be imposed against the Russian military command involved in war crimes in Ukraine.
  • Also, 3 Russian banks, including Sberbank, may be disconnected from SWIFT.
  • Broadcasting of three Russian propaganda channels will be banned in the EU.
  • < li> Also, the package will include an embargo on Russian oil, but a gradual phase-out of imports is proposed. Exceptions regarding the duration of purchases will be made for Hungary and Slovakia, because they are completely dependent on “black gold” from Russia.
