On February 20, Joe Biden made an unannounced visit to Kiev. During it, he, along with the President of Ukraine, walked around the capital and also visited the St. Michael's Golden-domed Monastery.

In addition to visiting the temple, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Joe Biden honored the memory of Ukrainian heroes that day. They laid flowers at the Wall of Memory of those who died for Ukraine.

Epiphanius thanked Biden and the people of America

In a statement issued following the visit, the Primate of the Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Epiphanius, shared his impressions of the meeting with President Biden. He thanked him and the American people for supporting Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.

I had the honor to congratulate Joseph Biden at St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral. We are grateful to him personally and to the people and government of America for the powerful assistance that Ukraine receives from the United States and allies to counter the aggression of the Russian evil empire. God Bless America! – said Epiphanius.

A gift to Biden

Deserves attention and the opening on this day of a commemorative plaque on the Alley of Courage in Kiev. It is dedicated to the President of the United States. Zelensky called this event historical.

I also consider it historical that today (February 20 – Channel 24) on the Alley of Courage we open a sign dedicated to President Biden, he said.

Joe Biden also saw the sign on the Alley, because he was there with the President Ukraine.

It should be noted that next to the sign dedicated to the US leader, there are already the names of other figures supporting Ukraine. In particular, you can see signs with the names of Andrzej Duda, Boris Johnson, Egils Levits, Mateusz Morawiecki and others.

Biden's unannounced visit in brief

Ukraine was strategic. As Andriy Yermak, head of the Presidential Office, emphasized, during it many issues were resolved and accelerated in Kyiv.
  • During the visit, Biden announced that the States were planning to announce on February 20. additional assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $2.5 billion.
  • Also, Joe Biden pointed out the main mistake of Vladimir Putin. The Russian dictator, when he launched the invasion almost a year ago, believed that Ukraine was weak and the West divided, the US president said. However, Putin was deeply mistaken.
