Ukraine will soon receive the first Leopard 2 tanks from Germany. Boris Pistorius emphasized this during his visit to Kyiv.
But at this point it will be necessary to wait a bit, because our military has just gone to study. After mastering the German Leopard 2 tanks, they will return, and with them the heaviest combat vehicles will arrive.
The first Leopards will be coming soon
On February 7, Pistorius talked not only with his Ukrainian colleague Oleksiy Reznikov. He also had the opportunity to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky. As a result of the meetings, it became known thatUkraine will receive the first Leopard 2 A6 tanks at the end of March.
In an interview with the German publication Bild, Pistorius also stated that the first tanks would arrive in Ukraine by the end of March. The head of the defense department stressed that soon the Ukrainian military would undergo exercises to master the vehicles.
Today I met and said goodbye to Ukrainian soldiers who are now heading to Germany. We are fulfilling the schedule, now it's up to others, as far as further supplies are concerned. There is clearly a desire,” he stressed.
Ukraine will also receive Leopard 1
This was noted by Alexei Reznikov after a meeting with the head of the German defense department. He noted that by the summer our state would receive 20-25 such tanks. And by the end of the year, they will talk about about 80. During 2024, we will be provided with more than 100 Leopard 1 tanks.
This is at least three battalions, including materials that will need to be purchased , spare parts, ammunition and training. And, of course, do not forget about the supply of 14 Leopard 2 A6 battle tanks to Ukraine,” he stressed.
Finally, we note that Pistorius arrived in Kyiv on February 7 not empty-handed. He brought with him the “first” German tank Leopard 2. In addition, during the meeting, the heads of defense departments announced even more positive news for Ukraine.
