German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense. Therefore, his country should increase the volume of deliveries of the relevant systems.

The head of the German Defense Ministry said that Ukraine especially needs to strengthen its air defense before winter. In particular, according to Pistorius, this should help our country protect its infrastructure.

What Pistorius said about increasing air defense deliveries to Ukraine

The German Defense Minister noted that his country should strengthen the Ukrainians' defense capabilities, especially air defense. For this purpose, Germany has already provided our country with three Patriot systems and several IRIS-T systems.

As supporters of Ukraine, we must increase supplies, because air defense is of decisive importance. Especially on the eve of the winter period to protect civilian and energy infrastructure, – Pistorius emphasized.

At the same time, the German minister refused to answer the question about potential support for the armament of F-16 aircraft coming from France.

“I cannot comment on this now, because we do not have F-16s, as you know. Whether weapons for use with F-16s will be presented – this requires verification,” the head of the German Defense Ministry noted.

By the way, earlier the German defense industry, together with the Bundeswehr, secretly provided Ukraine with a large aid package. It included, in particular, the IRIS-T SLM and IRIS-T SLS air defense systems, three HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems, tanks, combat vehicles, and the like.
