Ground Forces of the Georgian Army: composition
The Ground Forces of Georgia are the main branch of the country's armed forces and are designed to conduct combat operations both independently and in close cooperation with special forces. The structure of the Ground Forces includes:
- Infantry brigades, which are the backbone of the Ground Forces and are designed to conduct combined arms combat operations.
- Artillery brigades provide fire support to the Ground Forces.
- The engineering brigade carries out engineering tasks such as building fortifications, clearing mines and overcoming obstacles.
- The aviation brigade provides air support for the ground forces, including transport and reconnaissance operations.
- The air defense brigade protects the ground forces from air threats.
A distinctive feature of the Georgian ground forces is their close cooperation with aviation. The separate aviation brigade and helicopter base, although part of the ground forces, perform the functions of both army aviation and the Air Force.

Georgian Army: what place in the ranking
In the Global Firepower ranking, Georgia is in 84th place, while the army strength index is 1.6969.
The Power Index (PI) was used as a tool to assess the military potential of a state. This complex indicator combines a number of factors, such as the number of armed forces, the volume of military spending, the modernity of weapons and the geopolitical features of the country. It is interesting to note that there is an inverse correlation between the index value and the real combat readiness of the state: the lower the PI value, the higher the combat readiness of the country.
