The counteroffensive in the Kherson region is different from the same operation in the Kharkiv region. All because of geography. The Ukrainian command has chosen an effective tactic in this direction.
This Channel 24 was told by military expert Petr Chernik. According to him, both regions are very different. The Armed Forces in the Kherson region are acting very correctly– gradually exhaust the enemy, destroying supply chains.
Why the counteroffensive is different in these two directions
As Chernik notes, Kharkovshchina is a “network” of forests where you can hide equipment and people, and the so-called “low” river – in some places heavy equipment can pass.
Kherson region– the steppe and the huge river Dnieper with many branches. To force it, you need pontoons or barges. And these are convenient targets for artillery.
Therefore, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have chosen a different tactic than in the Kharkiv region. Here they are slowly casting a “stranglehold” around the enemy grouping and methodically breaking logistical chains.
In my opinion, the only correct philosophy in the Kherson region is siege. There can be no frontal assault while the enemy is still fighting,” Chernik emphasized.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are waiting for the Russian occupiers to be so exhausted that they will not be able to fight. When the choice comes for the invaders – either destruction or captivity – then large counter-offensive actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this direction will begin. Local residents heard explosions near the Antonovsky bridge, as well as at one of the enterprises where Russian infidels set up a base for themselves.
