The ex-commander of the operational-strategic group of forces (OSGV) Khortitsa, Lieutenant General Yuriy Sodol arrived at the operational command post of the 125th TrO brigade in the Kharkov region when, on May 10, 2024, the Russian occupiers began a second offensive from the north of the region. It was this TrO brigade that took part in repelling enemy attacks in the Liptsov direction.
This was stated by the former commander of the 125th TrO brigade, Lieutenant General Artur Gorbenko.
Sodol was in the Kharkov region during the Russian offensive in May
— On May 10, the commander of the OSGV Khortitsa, General Yuri Ivanovich Sodol, was personally with me at the OKP almost from the very morning until the evening. He apparently arrived before 08:00. He saw all my actions, and with him was also a fairly large group of officers from OSGV Khortitsa — about ten people somewhere. I had this group for three or four days, as I understand it, in order to control my actions.
Yuri Ivanovich did not speak to my decisions “I affirm”, but he heard everything… Perhaps he was not happy with everything. But when the 172nd Vinnitsa battalion retreated to the Staritsa area — this was already an irreversible action — he himself determined the line along which I should go on the defensive. I think that if he saw some kind of negligence in my actions, he would have every right to remove me from my duties, take control into his own hands, or transfer me to someone else, — says ex-brigade commander Gorbenko.
According to the former commander of the 125th TRO brigade, Yuriy Sodol was also present at the control point on May 11, 2024, when the second day of the Russian offensive from the north of the Kharkov region was underway. Then the former commander of the OSGV Khortitsa did not interfere in the management of the brigade, says Gorbenko, but somewhere he suggested, tried to help.

Recall that at the end of June, according to media reports, the State Bureau of Investigation planned to check Yuri Sodol regarding his actions during the repeated offensive of the invaders from the north of the Kharkov region. The check was initiated by a statement from the chief of staff of the Azov NGU brigade, Bogdan Krotevich.
The ex-commander of the OSGV Khortitsa will be checked regarding the circumstances of the Russian Army breaking through the border in the Kharkov region.
On May 27, the State Bureau of Investigation announced the beginning of an investigation into the circumstances of the breach of the border by Russian troops in the Kharkov region, which occurred on May 10, 2024.
