In 2014, he went over to the side of Russian militants and was appointed the so-called Minister of State Security “LPR”.

After the displacement of the head of “LPR” Igor Plotnitsky in 2018 Pasechnik took his place.

Before the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, he signed the so-called “agreement on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance” between the terrorist organization “LPR” and Moscow.

Later, the Kremlin used such decisions as a formal pretext for launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

It was also Pasechnik who participated in organizing a fake referendum on the territory of the occupied Lugansk region on its entry into the Russian Federation.

Taken together with all the evidence, he was found guilty under Articles 110 (violation of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and 111 (collaboration) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

In accordance with the prescribed punishment, Pasechnik was sentenced to 12 years in prison and banned from holding administrative positions for a period of 13 years.
