Gasoline won't appear even if a liter costs UAH 100 – Kuyun

Kuyun about the situation with fuel/collage of Channel 24

It's not profitable for private companies to haul gasoline and sell it to people. Because they stopped supplying by rail and began to use the most expensive delivery method – road.

Sergey Kuyun, director of the A-95 Consulting Group, said this on air on Channel 24. He noted that such a new logistics is crowding out the resources that gas stations have.

“They felt that it makes no sense to carry or it is small. Someone brought, but most people abstained and did not deliver. Therefore, the market has decreased over this time,” Kuyun said.

No minimum profitability

According to the expert, the government does not intend to fully release the price of fuel. There are fears that the price will soar, but this will not solve the supply problem either.

Even if you put 100 hryvnia per liter, gasoline will not appear. It just doesn't exist. Nobody brought him. If 100 hryvnias had been staked at the beginning of the month, then it would have been today, but now the situation takes time,” Kuyun said.

He added that the price will not solve anything now – although there will be gasoline, no one will buy it anyway, because it is very expensive. Kuyun noted that the Cabinet of Ministers may be inclined to think about adjusting the formula. That is, to lay down more logistics costs and make this supply with minimal profitability. There is also a government plan to help the transport market in negotiations with European colleagues.

“Today, wholesale lots, if we buy a diesel fuel tanker, it will cost 44 hryvnia per liter, and the price allowed by the government is 40.5 hryvnia. That is, you buy a fuel truck for 46 hryvnia, another 2 hryvnia are your sales costs,” Kuyun explained.

Fuel in Ukraine: the latest news

  • In recent weeks, fuel shortages at gas stations have been observed in Ukraine. However, gasoline should definitely be enough for the army and the business that supplies goods.
  • The situation was also worsened by the fact that during the war Russia destroyed about 20 Ukrainian oil depots, as well as the Kremenchug oil refinery.
  • Individual gas station chains have raised fuel prices, ignoring government limits. In addition, they set limits – they sell up to 10 liters per tank.
