“Gang of prisoners”: the observer compared the Russian army in February 2022 and now

by alex

Russia suffered huge losses in the war in Ukraine. Today, the combat effectiveness of Russian troops is much lower than it was at the beginning of the war.

This Channel 24 was told by the military-political observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko. According to him, if you compare the state of the occupation troops in February and September 2022, you can see a striking difference.

The state of the Russian army in February

According to Kovalenko, at the beginning of the invasion, Russia sent its best forces to Ukraine.

In February, well-equipped and fully combat-ready units that had combat experience, in particular in Syria, were abandoned.

However, now these units are no longer there, they have been destroyed. Russia has lost professional battalion tactical groups, representatives of the airborne troops, marines and other units, the military observer emphasized.

Who is fighting on the side of Russia after 7 months of the war

As Kovalenko noted, the Russian forces that are in Ukraine now are a “toxic mixture” of various elements.

  • These are the Russian servicemen who managed to survive.
  • “Mobiki”from the temporarily occupied territories of Luhansk and Donbass. We are talking about the so-called first and second army corps of quasi-republics. These include, first of all, men without combat experience who were forcibly mobilized in the Donbas.
  • Representatives of private military companies Wagner and Liga.

“No longer an elite, but a bunch of prisoners”

According to a military observer, Russian mercenaries have also significantly lost their effectiveness.

If still in May – June they could declare themselves as an elite of mercenaries, but now it is a bunch of prisoners. More than 50% of the Wagner PPK is no longer an elite, Kovalenko said.

He added that the so-called “partial” mobilization will not help Russia solve the problem of the lack of a professional military. And the situation of the Russian army will worsen more and more.

Problems in the Russian army at the front: briefly

  • Heroes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine inflict colossal losses on the enemy. As of September 24, Ukrainian soldiers have already destroyed more than 56,000 infidels.
  • Due to the lack of “cannon fodder” and the lack of volunteers, the aggressor country is attracting prisoners to the war. “Putin's chef” Yevgeny Prigozhin, who is considered the owner of the Wagner PPK, personally recruits convicts to participate in the war.
  • On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the so-called “partial” mobilization. As military observer Alexander Kovalenko noted, Russia will recruit a low-quality contingent that does not know how to behave at the front.
