Ministers of the G7 countries are “deeply concerned” about the serious threat posed by the seizure of ZNPP by the Russian military.
We demand that Russia immediately return full control to its rightful sovereign owner, Ukraine, over the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, as well as all nuclear facilities within Ukraine's internationally recognized borders, to ensure their safe and reliable operation. – the message says.
The ministers stressed that ZNPP personnel should be able to perform their duties without threats and pressure. At the same time, the Russian military increases the risk of a nuclear accident and poses a threat to the population of Ukraine, neighboring states and the international community.
The UN noted the importance of the withdrawal of Putin's soldiers and equipment from the territory of the ZNPP. The International Atomic Energy Agency must have safe and unhindered access to the nuclear plant.
I support the call for the demilitarization of the territory, starting with the complete withdrawal of Russian troops, and I call on the IAEA to visit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant , – stressed the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
