Russia steals Ukrainian grain: satellite imagery/Maxar

More evidence has emerged that Russia is stealing Ukrainian grain. Satellite images of the port in the temporarily occupied Sevastopol show that the occupiers are gaining momentum in the export of grain stolen to Ukraine.

What satellite images show

Maxar Technologies released satellite images dated May 19 and 21. On them, two Russian ships “Matros Pozinich” and “Matros Koshka” are moored next to what looks like grain silos, where grain is poured from a conveyor into an open hold.

According to MarineTraffic.com, both ships left the port. At the same time, “Matros Pozinich”, going through the Aegean Sea, claims that it is going to Beirut, and “Matros Koshka” is still in the Black Sea.

Note that in the Russian-occupied Crimea, little grain grows. But in the Donbass and in the territories of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions temporarily occupied by the Russians, there are a lot. The Ukrainian authorities appeal to all international partners that Russia is destroying storage facilities in the temporarily occupied territories and exporting grain outside Ukraine.

In particular, the invaders have already taken out about 300 thousand tons of grain from the Zaporozhye region, and more than 100 thousand tons from the Luhansk region. Residents of the Kherson and Donetsk regions also reported theft of food, grain and agricultural equipment.

Reference. In the regions temporarily occupied by the occupiers, about 1.5 million tons of grain are stored in farm stocks. According to international estimates, it is worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

How Russia exports stolen Ukrainian grain from Crimea

  • At the end of April, the Russian bulk carrier Matros Pozinich loaded about 27,000 Ukrainian grain and sailed from Chernoye seas in the Mediterranean. It first headed for Egypt, but after a warning from the Ukrainian authorities, it was denied entry to Alexandria.
  • After that, the ship was banned from entering Beirut, so it docked in Latakia in Syria.
  • Subsequently it became known that another bulk carrier with grain went from Crimea to Syria. This time it was the Syrian ship Phoenicia, which can carry about 19 thousand tons.
  • Now it turned out that Russia has attracted another bulk carrier, Matros Koshka, to transport stolen Ukrainian grain.
