24-year-old athlete was injured during an attempt to reach a height of 4.65 meters. After the jump, she landed unsuccessfully and fell into the hole where athletes place the pole, not on the mats.

The doctors gave her oxygen and evacuated her on a stretcher from the stadium to the hospital. Due to the incident, the pole vault competition was suspended for 15 minutes

Margot Chevrier later reported that doctors diagnosed her with an open fracture of the talus of the foot. The first operation is scheduled for March 3, and the next one will be carried out in France.

Coach Grant Brown said Chevrier's “bone was sticking out” after the horrific fall, causing a delay in the competition. The French Athletics Federation noted that the athlete suffered an open fracture of the talus.

The Frenchwoman sought to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games. In the winter, she cleared 4.66 meters and was aiming to jump 4.73 to qualify.

However, despite the terrible injury, she does not lose hope. On her leg she wrote with a marker: Paris 2024, I will jump.
