Three bombs exploded in minibuses in different districts of the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, another one – in a mosque in Kabul. The Islamic State international terrorist group claimed responsibility for the vehicle explosions hours after the incidents.

At least 10 people have died when three bombs were planted on minibuses in Mazar-i-Sharif, according to health and police officials in the Afghan province of Balakh.

Bombs were planted in three minibuses in different parts of the city. In addition to the dead, another 15 people were injured, said Asif Vaziri, spokesman for the local police department.

Najibullah Tawana, head of the Balkh provincial health department, confirmed the information and clarified that among the 10 dead there were three women .

By the way, later, by the evening of May 25, another explosion was heard – this time in one of the mosques in Kabul. As a result of the detonation of the bomb, at least 2 people were killed, and 10 more, according to the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs, were injured.

According to eyewitnesses, they immediately arrived at the Kabul mosque after the incident several ambulances that transported victims injured in the blast. The capital's emergency hospital later clarified that the terrorist attack killed 5 people and injured 22 people.

We add that it is not known whether the explosions on May 25 in Afghanistan were aimed at some specific community and what was the intent of the organizers of the attacks. Note that a number of previous similar incidents in the country happened during Ramadan, the holy period of devout Muslims, which lasted from April 1 to May 1, 2022.
