Bidzina Ivanishvili, the chairman of Georgia's ruling party, has once again announced plans to ban opposition parties. He promises to do so if the Georgian Dream manages to gain a constitutional majority in parliament.

Ivanishvili's statement, which he made four days before the elections, is reported by Ekho Kavkaza. He called for voting for the Georgian Dream, which will form a new opposition for itself through bans.

What is the Georgian Dream's plan?

Ivanishvili called on citizens to vote for the Georgian Dream in the elections on October 26. He promises that after the ban of the current opposition forces, a new opposition will emerge in the country, which he is very much looking forward to.

As soon as this force steps aside, the Georgian Dream will have many opponents, and I am looking forward to that day. It will be the happiest day when people will have the opportunity to choose between the good and the best, Ivanishvili said during an interview with Imedi TV channel.

He also apologized to the citizens of Georgia for the fact that now their only choice is the Georgian Dream.

You will have a choice after that – not the Georgian Dream, but something similar and better. There will be as much opposition as we want, says Ivanishvili.

In addition, the billionaire spoke harshly about former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, threatening to hand him and his team over to court.

This shameless man (Gakharia) and those who stand next to him, they will, of course, have to be tried. Of course, we will prove everything in black and white – what he did, why he did it, – the politician said.

Recall that the EU sharply criticized Mriya's plans to ban all opposition parties. Such a course for Georgia will effectively stop the process of its accession to the Union.
