First use of the FrankenSAM air defense system
When repelling a night attack by Russian drones on January 17, the Ukrainian military for the first time used hybrid air defense systems of the FrankenSAM project.
—Instead of developing some new air defense system from scratch, which would have taken many years, we took Soviet components and applied Western missiles to them. Or they took Western launchers and used Soviet missiles on them,” said the Minister for Strategic Industry of Ukraine Alexander Kamyshin at the forum in Davos.
Destruction of the A-50

British intelligence noted that The Russian Federation has already launched a new A-50 aircraft instead of the downed one, but it is keeping it “farther from front line, which confirms the success of Ukraine”.
“Bavovna” in Russia
Explosions thundered in the Moscow, Leningrad and Belgorod regions of the Russian Federation on the night of January 18 . Later, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported an attack by Ukrainian drones on an oil terminal in the Leningrad region.

Aid package from Germany
The German government handed over another package of military aid to Ukraine, which included Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Gepard self-propelled guns, Leopard shells, drones, armored personnel carriers and the like.
The new package includes:
- 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles;
- 15 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns;
- ammunition for tanks Leopard 1A5;
- 25 RQ-35 Heidrun reconnaissance drones;
- 8 armored personnel carriers;
- 16 Mercedes-Benz Zetros tankers;

Davos Forum
On January 15, the World Economic Forum started in Davos, which brought together political leaders from more than 100 countries, as well as businessmen and public figures.
It was attended by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, as well as figures from the Senate and House of Representatives of the American Congress.
The Ukrainian delegation was headed by President Vladimir Zelensky. He spoke on January 16th. The head of state invited representatives of big business to invest in Ukraine and participate in its restoration.

Providing assistance to Ukraine from the United States
