Forgot how to use: Svitan explained why the Russians are now using the MiG

The Russians have not used the MiG-31 normally in Crimea for a long time / Airliners.net

The Russians do not raise Kinzhal carriers in Crimea because they do not have special engineering services for this that could ensure the operation of attack aircraft. But MiG fighters of the BM modification are patrolling the situation in Crimea and the Black Sea.

They don’t even patrol, but learn to “hang in the air as long as possible.” Roman Svitan, a reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, an instructor pilot, and a military expert, told Channel 24 about this.

All tasks performed by MiG

According to Svitan, presumably, in Crimea, Russians are carrying out activities to train flight personnel, are engaged in retraining and provide flight permits.

The MiG-31 has not been used normally for a long time. Therefore, the flight crews have lost the knack for “holding up their pants” – as they call it in flight slang. They are given the appropriate raids and conduct flights: training, control, transportation,” the military expert explained.

That is, Russian pilots perform a number of tasks in the air: refueling, takeoff, landing, circling flight, practicing routes, refueling. The occupiers are trying to control the situation in the Black Sea through aviation.

However, if necessary, MiG fighters can also control the situation in the Middle East thanks to air refueling. We are talking about Syria and the Mediterranean Sea, because the Russians have access mechanisms.

As Svitan explained, Russian MiGs are concentrated in the Black Sea because they perform certain tasks, and in the event of a collision they will be able to fall into the water and not onto land.

Russians attack Ukrainian territory

  • Today, November 10, the air raid warning in Ukraine lasted more than 3.5 hours. Presumably, the long stay of Russian fighters in the skies of the MiG-31K is associated with practicing in-flight refueling tasks.
  • Speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Ignat explained why it is more difficult to shoot down Shaheds in the western regions of Ukraine. According to him, starting from the Khmelnitsky and Ternopil regions, the terrain is hilly, which makes it difficult to shoot down hostile targets. After all, Shaheds not only need to hear the drone, they also need to see it.
  • That night, air defense forces and equipment destroyed 5 of the 6 Shahed drones and one missile.
