Trump was assassinated during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Forensic audio analysis suggests three weapons may have been used.

The FBI said the shooter acted alone. Audio analysis confirmed that he was approximately 110 to 120 meters from the podium.

According to audio analysis by Catalin Grigoras, director of the National Center for Media Forensics at the University of Colorado at Denver, and Cole Whitecotton, a senior research fellow at the same university, the first three shots were consistent with suspected Weapon A, the next five with suspected Weapon B, and the final “acoustic pulse” was emitted by possible Weapon C.

Audio analysis also confirmed that the shooter was approximately 360 to 393 feet from the podium, according to forensic scientist Robert Maher.

This finding matches CNN's analysis that he was on the roof 393 – 492 feet from the stand when shots were fired.

The shots are an example of a “crack-pop” sequence typical when a supersonic bullet passes the microphone before “the arrival of the corresponding muzzle blast sound,” said Maher, who teaches audio forensics at Montana State University.

The time between those markers, he said indicates that the shooter was 110 to 120 meters from the microphone, assuming the bullet was moving at an average speed of 800 to 1000 meters per second, equivalent to 2600 to 3280 feet.

“There should not have been a direct line of sight” for the shooter
