The American congresswoman wrote an open letter to UN Secretary General António Guterres, in which she stated. that the “grain agreement” is a failure and needs to be suspended. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry did not agree with this.
The position of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
The Foreign Ministry said that Ukraine would not have signed the “grain agreements” if it had not been confident in its ability to protect the coast from Russian attacks from the Black Sea. Our state fulfills all the requirements, and the security situation is controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As for Russia, the fulfillment of the agreements was guaranteed by other signed agreements.
According to the “grain” agreement, the UN and Turkey pledged to ensure the implementation of the agreement by Russia. Ukraine has completed the necessary preparations for the restoration of safe grain exports and is awaiting appropriate steps from other parties. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called Spartz's statement about the need to cancel the “grain agreement” an attempt to inflict a crushing blow on our farmers and the economy, which requires grain exports. What was said in the letter to Spartz
Congresswoman Victoria Spartz said in her letter that the “grain agreement” is as disastrous as and agreements about the defenders of Azovstal, who were killed in Olenovka by infidels.
Spartz's argument is that the day after the signing of the agreement, Russia fired missiles at the port in Odessa. Therefore, she is convinced that the agreements create risks for Ukraine, which is why they should be canceled.
