The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a mechanism for the forced evacuation of children from zones of active hostilities. This is the right decision that will save the lives of boys and girls.
Pavel Lysyansky, co-founder of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Security, told Channel 24 about this. According to him, during the war, the Ukrainian authorities have to make many difficult decisions. But it will save lives for the children.
This initiative is primarily aimed at saving lives. Solely on safety matters, to adhere to international norms and conventions. They will not be forcibly taken out alone. And forcibly in the presence of one relative or parent. Not as forced an evacuation as the Russians do it,” Lisyansky said.
It is necessary to work ideologically with the children taken to Russia.
As Lisyansky noted, during the war, the invaders forcibly deported a huge number of children to Russia. They not only took them out, but also worked with them to erase Ukrainian identity.
In his opinion, it is necessary to work ideologically with the deportees so that they want to return home on their own. Every effort should be made to ensure that children retain their Ukrainian identity.
Forced evacuation of children from active hostilities
