There is more victory for Ukraine
The political scientist Volodymyr Fesenko told Channel 24 about this. He says that for the economic and political interests of Ukraine, the grain agreement with Russia is more than a win here.
According to him, you need to be realistic. “If there hadn't been this specific agreement, which we didn't sign with the Russians, but signed it separately with us and with them, then there wouldn't be such an agreement at all,” he says.
And this solves the problem for us – 20 million tons of grain can be exported, and for us this is significant in the current economic situation. In addition, this will help free up space for storing next year's harvest,” Fesenko explained.
Why Ukraine agreed to this agreement
The expert noted that not only Turkey, but also the UN was involved in organizing the signing of such an agreement. Western partners also contributed to this, because they also made certain decisions.
“Everyone is concerned about the food situation in the world, in particular, the prevention of hunger and the aggravation of the food crisis. That was the main goal of this agreement“, notes Fesenko.
In his opinion, first of all, the world won here, and Ukraine too. “Yes, the Russians have their own bonuses – they got the opportunity to export grain from their ports, but this will be controlled and limited,” he replied.
The political scientist noted that sanctions on the export of goods were not introduced from Russia.
This can be criticized, but for Russia, grain exports are not critical. They have less income from exports than from oil or gas. But for us it is critically important. Therefore, we won much more in this, Fesenko summed up.

Ukraine signed a grain agreement: what does it provide
- Under the auspices of the UN will create a Joint coordination center. It will include representatives of Turkey, Ukraine, the UN and Russia. They guarantee the safe movement of ships involved in the transportation of grain from Ukrainian ports.
- It is important to note that control over Ukrainian ports remains entirely with the Ukrainian side. There will be no movement of any other vessels, except for those who must ensure the export of grain.
- The document will be valid for 120 days from the date of signing. Then it can be extended for the same period if one of the parties does not want to break it.
- The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov believes that the agreement on unblocking Ukrainian ports for the export of grain was signed on favorable terms for us. The Ukrainian side will independently accompany and be responsible for everything that happens on our side.
