Evgeny Prigozhin, the owner of the Wagner terrorist group, apparently wants to increase his influence in Russia and may soon resort to, if not a forcible seizure of power in St. Petersburg, then a systematic plunge of the city into bloody terror.
According to Channel 24 sources in the Ukrainian special services , in early March, even when Putin's chef had not announced his intentions to hold a rally and overthrow the governor of St. Petersburg, on his orders, from 100 to 130 militants were already moving into the city from the front. It is clear that the Wagnerites were transported not at all officially and with weapons.
Prigozhin's gang, which is located in the capital of the Northwestern Federal District, is equipped with machine guns, machine guns, grenade launchers and even Shmel flamethrowers.
Blood revenge for the destruction of hopes
Apparently, Yevgeny Prigozhin's intentions to somehow take possession of St. Petersburg and the region in general, were formed into a concrete plan. At the same time, there is no talk of any physical control over the city and the announcement of himself as a local prince.
We are aware of a long-standing conflict with the authorities and influence between Prigogine and Beglov. Apparently, realizing that the position of Minister of Defense was unattainable for him, the chief Wagnerite decided to focus on the struggle for control of St. Petersburg. Moreover, he has been talking about such ambitions for more than a year. We know about the specific plans of the war criminal, but let them come as a surprise to the FSB officers. We are announcing only for local residents without clear details, – Ukrainian special services employees noted.
Probably, the owner of the Wagner group wants to carry out a behind-the-scenes coup by terrorizing Governor Alexander Beglov and his Kremlin handlers. To do this, Prigozhin only needs to organize several more or less large-scale protests against the official, as well as conduct a series of information attacks through the media controlled by him.
However, of course, armed militants will be the main trump card in the fight against Beglov. In just a few hours, they can arrange a continuous bloody terror in a big city – rob banks, commit terrorist attacks, arrange a showdown with local criminals, and also carry out murders on the order of their owner.
According to the plan of the disgraced chef Putin, rampant banditry will demonstrate to Moscow that Beglov is not able to solve the problem, and the local security forces are by no means in control of the situation. After all, the Russian police and the National Guard are only capable of raping and beating protesters, and they will not be able to effectively counteract a trained and armed structure.
At the same time, the Kremlin is unlikely to dare to carry out a counter-terrorist operation. After all, the entire combat-ready army is in Ukraine, and the unprepared mobilized on the streets of St. Petersburg will only plunge the city into chaos more. And in general, no one will directly connect the activities of unknown militants with Prigozhin, since this means not only the recognition that the dictator himself raised this dragon, but also that he does not keep it under control.
Understanding all this, the owner of a pocket army can indeed resort to such actions, even taking into account the fact that this is a kind of jump against the bunker Fuhrer himself. For Putin, one way or another, St. Petersburg is a sacred city, where he began his gangster and political activities. However, the 70-year-old ruler with the Hitler complex will not be able to oppose Prigozhin either. Unless he gives him control over the North-Western District and pays tribute to Kadyrov.
“Wagners” destroyed only in Ukraine
It is clear that in the event of some kind of forceful confrontation by a gang of several hundred people, it will not be possible to terrorize the city for a long time one way or another. But one should not assume that these criminals are Prigozhin's only trump card. Of course, no one will allow him to withdraw all his units from the Ukrainian fronts, but throughout Russia, the owner of the Wagner group has at least several thousand loyal mercenaries.
In addition, in different cities of Russia, representatives of a “private company” recruit men not at all to participate in the battles in the Donbass, but to work inside Russia.
We must not forget that although the “Wagnerite” groups are almost completely destroyed in Ukraine, Prigozhin has a joker up his sleeve – his units, which are located in Africa. The war criminal did not withdraw several thousand truly trained fighters from the Congo, Mali and the Central African Republic. Therefore, they still fill tasks there to support the rebels or control the mines, which gives Putin's cook a considerable income. It is for this money that he can create new groups and finance old ones.
So even though Prigozhin fell out of favor, he still remains a powerful person in Russia who is quite capable of creating a lot of problems for a tottering regime.
