For the second time in a week, a Mi-8 helicopter has disappeared in Russia. The aircraft with at least 5 people on board disappeared from radar in the Irkutsk region.

A number of Russian media outlets are reporting this, citing their own sources. It is known that rescuers immediately flew to the site where the helicopter disappeared, Channel 24 reports..

Second helicopter disappears in Russia in a week

As reported online, an Mi-8 helicopter disappeared in the Irkutsk region. Communication with the aircraft was lost near the village of Razdolye in the Usolsky district.

It is not known for certain how many people were on board. Some media outlets claim there were 6 people on board, while others claim there were 5. However, there should have been at least 3 crew members in the Mi-8.

When the plane disappeared, rescuers began searching. The crew was later able to contact each other via satellite phone. They reported that the helicopter made a forced hard landing on the border of Buryatia. At least 2 people were injured.

According to preliminary information, there were doctors on board the Mi-8 who were carrying out a medical flight. The exact location of the Russian helicopter is not yet known. But, as Telegram channels write, the plane probably landed in the taiga.

Interestingly, this is the second incident with the Mi-8 in the last week. Thus, on August 31, the helicopter disappeared in Kamchatka. It is known that there were 22 people on board – 3 crew members and 19 tourists.

The search continued for several hours, and later details became known. Thus, the Vityaz Aero company's plane was flying from the village of Nikolaevka to the Vachkazhets volcano, but crashed. The wreckage was found 900 meters from the place where the helicopter crew last contacted. Probably, the helicopter hit a rock or crashed into it. All 22 people who were on board died.
