On November 12, Israel entered into a historic agreement with EU and NATO members. We are talking about the sale of David's Sling missile defense systems.

About “David's Sling” was acquired by Finland for 317 million euros. The country announced its intention to receive an Israeli missile defense system the day after it officially became the 31st member of the Alliance.

Historical agreement

On November 12, the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Eyal Zamir, entered into an agreement on the sale of the David's Sling system to Finland. The signing of the agreement took place at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

The event was attended by the Finnish Ambassador to Israel Nina Nordström and the Finnish Defense Attaché to Israel Colonel Oula Asteljoki.

Let us recall that earlier the United States gave the go-ahead for Israel to sell David’s Sling systems to Finland, because they are a joint development of the two countries.

Ukraine needs an Iron Dome

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, our state has been subjected to Russian missile attacks and drone attacks. Even then, the Ukrainian ambassador to Israel called on the country to sell Kyiv one of the most powerful air defense systems, the Iron Dome. However, Israel, on principle, does not transfer weapons to our state. And it is unlikely that he will, given the fact that he himself is opposing Hamas militants and every rocket matters to him.

Also, according to experts, the Iron Dome may not be suitable for Ukraine. After all, its area is 27 times larger than the area of Israel. A battery of three Iron Dome launchers is capable of covering an area of 150 square kilometers. Consequently, Ukraine will need dozens, if not hundreds of complexes to protect its territories bordering Russia. And this is 50 million dollars for a battery with 3 launchers and 50,000 – 90,000 dollars for a rocket.
