Poltava Vorskla announced the appointment of former Ukrainian national football player Iya Andrushchak to the position of head coach of the Vorskla U-19 men's team.

The press service of the white-greens reported this on Wednesday, November 8.

“The ex-player of the Vorskla women’s team and the Ukrainian national team, which has many titles and awards in Ukrainian football, agreed to the club management’s offer to work with the nearest reserve of the white-greens,” the statement says.

It is noted that the agreement with Andrushchak is for six months . Under her leadership, Poltava residents will spend part of the season in the Youth League, which will end in May.

Andrushchak became the first woman to lead a professional men's football team in Ukraine.

The Vorskla U-19 team will play the first match under the leadership of Andrushchak on Friday, November 10, away against their peers from Obolon.

What is known about Iya Andrushchak?

Iya Andrushchak is 36 years old. She played in midfield and retired from playing in August 2021. In the jersey of the Ukrainian national team, Andrushchak played 58 matches, in which she scored two goals.

Since then, she received a level A coaching diploma and worked on the coaching staffs of the women's national team of Ukraine and Vorskla, but still had no independent experience.

Andruschak was also chosen as the ambassador of the Women's Champions League final in 2018 in Kyiv.
