Ukrainian serviceman Dmitry Shapovalov, who was released from Russian captivity during an exchange on April 26, 2023, died in the Vinnytsia region.
This was reported by the head of the Central Regional Center of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, Yulia Pavlyuk, as well as the soldier’s wife, Elena Shapovalova.

The farewell to Dmitry will take place on Friday, June 13, in the village of Osipovka, Kazatinsky district, Vinnytsia region.

The Coordination Headquarters published a video from the exchange on April 26, when Dmitry tried an apple for the first time after a year of captivity.
“I’ve been dreaming about him for a year,” the man said then.
Let us recall that on April 26, 2023, 44 Ukrainians were released from Russian captivity – 42 military personnel and two civilians.
Among those returned were 19 fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 11 border guards, 7 servicemen of the Navy, two National Guardsmen and three representatives of territorial defense.
