Today, April 26, the Russian “Gazprom” informed the Bulgarian gas company “Bulgargaz” about the termination of gas supplies. The countries terminated the preliminary contracts from April 27.
As noted in the Ministry of Energy of Bulgaria, now the country is working on options for alternative energy suppliers. The ministry emphasized that the country would not have to restrict gas consumption.
Another country refused Russian gas
The statement of the ministry emphasizes that Bulgaria fully fulfilled its obligations and made all payments required under the contract. They added that the transfer of the agreed amounts took place in a timely manner, strictly and in accordance with the clauses of the contract.
However, after analysis, it was found that the new two-stage payment procedure, which provides for the use of special accounts in Russian banks, does not comply with the current contract and creates serious risks for Bulgaria.
On the morning of April 27 Minister of Energy Alexander Nikolov will make a statement on the current situation.
Recall , On April 26, the Polish state-owned gas company PGNiG announced that Gazprom Export LLC will stop deliveries of Russian gas to Poland on April 27. However, Polish importers reduced the intake of gas from Russia throughout April. Now the country has the necessary gas reserves and sources of supply that protect its security.
