Again negative headlines at the EM. After Budapest, rainbow flags are also not welcome in the Baku Olympic Stadium.

The dispute over the forbidden rainbow lighting of the Allianz Arena in Munich has caused a stir around the world. Recently, reports of hostility from fans carrying rainbow flags increased in the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

And in the quarter-final match between Denmark and the Czech Republic (2-1), a sign of diversity and against discrimination was not wanted. Before the game, two stewards had stolen the rainbow flag from a Danish football fan sitting in the stands.

The scene had been captured and documented by photographers who were in the stadium. Most recently, UEFA had stated that rainbow flags were not banned in stadiums. However, these pictures show the opposite.

In the run-up to the quarter-finals, the European Football Association had stipulated that the rainbow flag was not allowed to appear on the advertising boards in St. Petersburg and Baku. The German car maker Volkswagen wanted to use the symbol to advertise diversity. UEFA was concerned that this was not allowed.
