— Through the drone coalition, we will seek joint procurement initiatives to exploit and expand the nation's industrial capabilities and encourage additional funding to achieve these goals, — the message says.
Members of the coalition called on other countries to join the initiative.
The Drone Coalition is focused on providing Ukraine with UAVs and components produced by the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) industry, as well as finding ways to support Ukrainian manufacturers.
Its participants have already provided significant support to Ukraine. In particular, Latvia provides a training ground for testing drones, and Britain launched a competition for the development and procurement of FPV drones, receiving 265 applications. While these proposals are being evaluated, the first contracts are expected to be signed in August.
February 17, 2024, as part of the work of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, the drone coalition officially launched.
Recently, the Latvian Ministry of Defense announced the transfer to Ukraine, within the framework of a coalition of drones, of 2.5 thousand drones worth €4 million.
A batch of combat drones of various types and purposes was produced by seven Latvian companies. They will be provided to Ukraine gradually throughout July.
