Finland is preparing to apply to NATO soon. Sweden is also preparing for the same step – the war in Ukraine has shown all the risks of being close to the Russians.

Most Finnish citizens are in favor of joining the North Atlantic Alliance. As Erkki Tuomioja said at a meeting with Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Andreas Norlen in Stockholm, Finland will apply for NATO membership in the coming weeks.
I informed the Swedish side that Finland has a majority citizens are in favor of NATO membership. This means that we will send an application for joining the Alliance in the coming weeks, in the spring, – said the Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Finnish Parliament.
This caused “satisfaction” on the Swedish side. It is reported that Sweden is also trying to speed up the process of joining the Alliance.
