Finnish authorities have reportedly detained the Eagle S tanker after damaging the Estlink 2 submarine cable in the Gulf of Finland.

The tanker is registered in the Cook Islands and is carrying oil from Russia to Egypt. According to ship tracking data, it was spotted passing the cable site at the time of the incident.
The publication's sources note that the old tanker is part of Russia's shadow fleet. An investigation is also underway into whether the Eagle S cut three communication cables in the Gulf of Finland.
