What kind of car tinting is allowed in Ukraine

Requirements for glass tinting and its light transmission are specified in GOST 5727-88. Tinting is permitted, but must have a certain light transmission capacity.

In addition to the percentage of light transmission, the color in which tinted glass may be painted is also indicated. In particular, the perception of white, yellow, red, green and blue colors must not be distorted.

The GOST also states that there are special measuring devices to determine the degree of light transmission. Therefore, before issuing a fine to a driver, a police officer must use a measuring device to determine the percentage of light transmission of the tint.

There are certain requirements for the light transmission of car glass:

  • The windshield must transmit at least 75% of light.
