They fought during a session: a fight broke out in the Serbian parliament Nadezhda Batyuk

On November 25, during a session of the Serbian Parliament, there was a scuffle between members of the ruling party, opposition members and ministers. The parliamentary security service intervened in the situation.

The session, in particular, was scheduled to discuss the budget for 2025, reports 24 Kanal with reference to N1.

What caused the fight

The incident occurred at the first session after the tragedy in Novi Sad.

The fight occurred before the start of the official discussions. Opposition representatives greeted the ministers with shouts of “Your hands are bloody.” This phrase was often heard during the protests after the tragedy.

The opposition, activists and demonstrators believe that the government is guilty of corruption and demand that those responsible for the tragedy be found.

Security service officers managed to stop the fight. However, tensions escalated when several MPs attempted to remove a provocative banner that had been hung on the balcony of the parliamentary chamber.

Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić turned off the microphones to prevent the events from being broadcast publicly and called for “peace, dignity and continuation of the session.”

Brnabić subsequently announced a break and invited representatives of parliamentary factions to consultations.

What is known about the tragedy in Novi Sad

On November 1, the outer roof of a train station in the northern Serbian city of Novi Sad collapsed. As a result, 15 people were killed. Among the victims, in addition to the Serbs, there is also a citizen of North Macedonia.

It is worth noting that the station was opened only in July 2024. Before that, it was under reconstruction for 3 years, which was carried out by a Chinese contractor.
