The MFA of Moldova summoned the Ambassador of Russia. The corresponding act of the country was caused by the statement of the Russian commander about plans to seize the South of Ukraine, as well as to “protect” the Russian speakers in the unrecognized Transnistria.
The corresponding message on the website of the Moldovan Foreign Ministry appeared on April 22 – the day when Russia your plans. In particular, Russia's statement about Pridnestrovie was voiced by Rustam Minnekaev, Acting Commander of the Central Military District of Russia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration has taken notice of the statements of the representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense. To this end, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Vasnetsov, and expressed deep concern about the statements of the Russian official, says the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry also assured that:
- such Moscow's statements are groundless and contradict the position of Russia, which supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders;
- during the meeting, Moldova assured that, according to its Constitution, it is a neutral state, and this principle must be respected by all international actors, including the Kremlin.
By the way, President Maia Sandu said that Moldova will not join the sanctions against Russia. In particular, the country stated that it would maintain neutrality over the war in Ukraine.
