The governor of the Rostov region, in a comment to propagandists, did not confirm that the cause of the fire at the plant in Shakhty could have been a drone. He said that “air defense did not work then”.
A plant for the production of polyester staple fiber was opened in Shakhty in June 2023. Russian media write that it became the first enterprise of this profile. More than 5 billion rubles ($38.7 million) were invested in its construction.
