Thus, the press service of the State Emergency Service told the story of rescuer Viktor Butenko, who, together with his family, had to leave Kherson during the occupation.
The man recalls that it was a terrible three days under fire, but they succeeded. Subsequently, he and his wife, who also works in the State Emergency Service, continued to serve in the Odessa region.
After the Russians blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station on the night of June 6, the man, without hesitation, went with other rescuers to help his hometown. For two weeks they rescued and evacuated people and animals. This all happened again under shelling.
Vitaly remembers Kherson residents who had to be persuaded to leave their homes. He understood why they did not want to leave home, because he himself had once made such a difficult decision.
— Houses up to the 2nd floor were in the water, they rescued a man who had been waiting for help on a tree for more than a day, people lost everything, — he says.
Now Victor continues his service in Odessa as part of the diving department.
Every day, thousands of Ukrainian heroes, without weapons, despite everything, decide to help others. Thanks to courage and professionalism, rescuers bravely carry out their work, bringing our victory closer.
